Ancelotti expects Milan exit

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed there will come a time when he leaves his post with the Italian giants.

Ancelotti has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer when the Blues are expected to be in the market for a new manager.

The experienced Italian was one of the names in the frame to replace Luiz Felipe Scolari before Guus Hiddink was appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season.

The Dutchman has made an impressive impact at Stamford Bridge but has always insisted he will focus fully on his role as Russia coach from the summer.

One of the names firmly in the frame to follow in Hiddink's footsteps is Ancelotti, who has been told he must finish at least third in Serie A this season.
Hug

Speaking to Il Corriere dello Sport, Ancelotti said: "Of course, I will not coach Milan forever... anything is possible.

"I would like to say goodbye with a hug, but now is not the time and our working relationship is completely in tune."

Ancelotti also revealed his admiration for Hiddink, adding: "I have always said that my foreign idol is Guus Hiddink, who has done well wherever he has gone."

Meanwhile, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck insists the club are already looking beyond Hiddink because they cannot afford to wait until November to see if Russia qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Hiddink has a clause in his contract that allows him to walk away from the national job if they fail to reach the finals. They are currently second in group four behind leaders Germany.

The Dutchman is expected to meet officials in Moscow to discuss matters but Buck said: "The situation is the same as it was when he came. We are planning on that basis.

Albiol eyes 'perfect' Prem

Valencia central defender Raul Albiol has admitted he would welcome a move to one of the Premier League's big guns.

The Spanish side are in the midst of a cash crisis and have already admitted that they could be forced to sell a number of star players in a bid to balance the books.

Strikers David Villa and David Silva have been attracting admiring glances from across Europe, while Albiol has been linked with a possible switch to Arsenal or Liverpool.

The Spain international had previously stated he was keen to remain at the Mestella, but while he is happy with Los Che he admits the lure of a move to England could prove hard to resist.
Perfect

Albiol told skysports.com: "If I leave Valencia I would only go to a big club.

"The Premier League could be perfect because I have always been a fan of the football they play.

"But I am happy in Valencia at the moment."

The 23-year-old still has two more years to run on his current contract with reports suggesting a fee of around 20million euros (£18.5million) would be enough to secure his services.

Valencia's sporting director Fernando Gomez confirmed that clubs from England were monitoring Albiol, but are yet to make their interest official with a firm bid.

Gomez said: "The situation has not changed and we are obliged to sell players. We know of the English interest but we have not received a formal offer for Raul."

Rooney escapes further ban

The Football Association has confirmed Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will not face any further disciplinary action following his red card at Fulham on Saturday.

Rooney was sent off for two bookable offences during his side's 2-0 defeat and although he exchanged words with referee Phil Dowd after being shown red, the official has confirmed he was not sworn at by the player.

The FA will write to Rooney, however, to issue him with a formal warning about his conduct after he punched the corner flag while leaving the pitch.

An FA spokesman said: "We have clarified with Phil Dowd that there was no abuse from the player after he was dismissed.

"In relation to the incident when he punched the corner flag, the referee did not see that and we have written to Wayne Rooney reminding him of his responsibilities."

It means Rooney will only be suspended for one game, the Premier League visit of Aston Villa to Old Trafford on 5th April.
